2nd April

​

We corrected the homework: 3 Grammar: ex. b and d on p. 79 and 7 a letter of complaint: ex. a and b, p. 119. We talked about the structure of a letter of complaint. Later we talked about a job that matched our personality and practised the use of infinitives and gerunds by doing ex. f on p. 79 and an activity in pairs in which we had to guess things about our classmates. Finally, we looked at more vocabulary to talk about our jobs and we described a job we (or somebody we know) do (ex. d, p. 78).

Homework: Watch the video about April Fool's Day on the homepage and answer the questions and Grammar Bank 8B (ex a and, p. 147).

 4th April

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 8B (ex a and, p. 147). Then we played a board game in groups to practise the use of the gerund and the infitinitive. We listened to an audio about different jobs and we had to match the audios to some summaries about them.          We played Pasapalabra with different definitions about work-related 

 

vocabulary. Finally, we did some job inter views in groups.

Homework: Exercises from photocopy on gerunds and infinitives and WRITING: Write a letter to complain about a flat or house that you rented on your holiday, following the model from the textbook. (180-200 words).

9th April

​

We corrected the homework: Exercises from photocopy on gerunds and infinitives. Then we talked about the mediation task and the covering email we did in class two weeks ago. We played a kahoot to revise the use of the infinitive and gerund. Finally, we did 1 Grammar on pp. 74-75, we talked about the website and started to talk about reported speech and listened to the song "Manic Monday", by the Bangles to complete the lyrics. Homework: Watch the video on reported speech in the grammar presentations section and do Grammar Bank 8A (ex. a and b, p. 146).

11th April

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 8A (ex. a and b, p. 146).  We practised reported speech by doing an activity in groups where we had to ask questions and then we had to remember what we had been asked and we had to report it back. Then we did a listening activity about the news to practise for the exam. Finally, we talked about shopping, we practised the vocabulary about it and, in pairs, we talked about our shopping habits: 2 Vocabulary and Speaking (p. 75)

Homework: 3 Reading on pp 76-77: ex. b, c and d. Exercises from photocopy on vocabulary about shopping and mediation task about work (from photocopy).

23rd April

​

We corrected the homework: 3 Reading on pp 76-77: ex. b, c and d. Exercises from photocopy on vocabulary about shopping. Then we talked did 4 Pronunciation on p. 77 and talked about complaining, we did 6 Listening and speaking, in pairs. Later we watched a clip from a British sitcom, Little Miss Jocelyn, which took place in a shop and answered some questions about it. (You can watch it again on the homepage). Finally, in pairs we did a roleplay: I want to speak to the manager (pp. 107 and 111), in pairs.

Homework: 1 Reading and Speaking: read the text and do ex. c (pp. 58-59) and correct the wrong sentences from the writings (letter of complaint) from the photocopy.

25th April

​

We corrected the homework: 1 Reading and Speaking: read the text and do ex. c (pp. 58-59) and correct the wrong sentences from the writings (letter of complaint) from the photocopy. First, we asked each other questions than then had to report back to other people in the class. Then we talked about our profile photos and the importance of appearances. We did 5 Grammar on p. 60 and talked about modals of deduction (you can check the power point presentation in the writing section). Finally, we did 2 Vocabulary and after listening to the recording we looked at vocabulary about physical description from a photocopy.

Homework: check the power point presentation in the writing section and do Grammar Bank 6B (ex. a and b, p. 143) and Vocabulary Bank: the body (p. 160).

30th April

​

We corrected the homework:  Grammar Bank 6B (ex. a and b, p. 143) and Vocabulary Bank: the body (p. 160). We did 6 Listening (ex. a, b and c on p. 68) and practised modals of deduction, we also looked at some strange pictures and tried to make deductions using modals. We talked about appearances and, later we did 3 Pronunciation on p. 59. We described some pictures that had some differences, in pairs to practise the vocabulary of the body and appearances. We finally, we listened to the song I got life, by Nina Simone and completed the lyrics with parts of the body.

Homework: Revise and check (all exercises from p. 82), watch the video on relative clauses in the grammar presentation section and then do Grammar Bank 10A (ex. a and b, p. 150), reading task from photocopy: fill in the gaps
