6th November

We corrected the homework: Vocabulary Bank. money on p. 154 and 6 Reading and Speaking: ex. b, c, e and f on p. 17. Then we listened to a song to practise the vocabulary about money: Ka-ching by Shania Twain, we talked about the lyrics and the vocabulary (you can watch the video on the homepage, blog section). Then we did 2 Pronunciation and 3 Reading and Speaking on p. 15.

Homework: Do ex b and c (5 Grammar on p. 16) and watch the video and powerpoint presentation about the differences between the present perfect and the past simple in English.

 

8th November

 

We corrected the homework: ex b and c (5 Grammar on p. 16). We practised the use of the present perfect and the simple past by doing ex. e in pairs (p. 16) and a board game in groups. We also watched a video about money and happiness and did an gap filling task about it (You can watch the video again on the homepage, blog section).

Homework: Grammar Bank 2A (ex. a and b, p. 134) and correct the recipe written by your classmates that you are assigned to correct: check homepage blog: Master Chef UK recipes.

13th November

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 2A (ex. a and b, p. 134) and some of the recipes that you had corrected from Masterchef UK: Spanish recipes. Later we did an activity in which we had to find people that had done different things to practise present perfect and past simple. Later we did a listening task: a multiple choice one based on the audio from 1 Listening on p. 18 about a charity. We also did ex. d (p. 18) Finally we talked about money, in pairs we asked some questions about it to practise the vocabulary.

Homework: Photocopy on present perfect and simple past and watch the video and/or the power point presentation about the present perfect continuous that you'll find at the bottom of the grammar presentations section. We work about that in the next class.

15th November

 

We corrected the homework: photocopy on present perfect and simple past. Then we did 3 Pronunciation on p. 19 and 4 Speaking, in pairs to practise the present perfect continuous. Then we reviewed vocabulary about my money by trying to complete a worksheet with the right word and by doing a speaking activity in pairs about money problems where we had to agree to solve some problems.

Homework: Grammar Bank 2B: ex. a and b (p. 135) and Writing: an informal email: ex. a, b and c (p. 114).

20th November

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 2B: ex. a and b (p. 135) and Writing: an informal email: ex. a, b and c (p. 114). Then to practise the present perfect simple and continuous we did an activity in groups where we had to ask and answer some questions. Later we talked about challenges to raise money for a good cause or a charity. We watched a short clip about Helen Skelton's Amazon Challenge and answered some questions about it. Finally, we did 5 Reading and Listening about this challenge (pp. 20-21).

Homework: Exercises from photocopy on the present perfect continuous and watch the video about Thanksgiving that you have on the blog on the homepage, as we'll play a game in the next class about this holiday.

22nd November 

​

We corrected the homework: Exercises from photocopy on the present perfect continuous. Then we did Vocabulary and pronunciation on p. 21 about strong adjectives and an activity in pairs to practise them (pp. 104,109). Later to practice the use of the present perfect we did a roleplay in whcih we had to interview each other. Later we watched a video about the charity Oxfax and answered some questions about it (you can watch the video on the blog, homepage, again). Finally, we played a Kahoot about Thanksgiving, which was celebrated today in the US (you can play it again if you follow this link: https://kahoot.it/challenge/0685513.  You will have to dowload the app.

Homework: Writing: An email (ex. d, p. 114) and Vocabulary Bank 3A: Transport (p. 155)

27th November 

​

We corrected the homework: Vocabulary Bank 3A: Transport (p. 155). The we practised 2 pronunciation on p. 24. Later we talked about the fastest means of transport: we did 3 Reading and Listening on p.p 24-25. In pairs, we talked about transport in Madrid (p. 104,109). Finally, in groups we played a board game about transport and travelling.

Homework: All exercises from p. 22 (Revise and Check Units 1 and 2) and watch the video and/or check the powerpoint presentation on comparatives and superlatives that you'll find at the top of this webpage (grammar presentations).

29th November 

​

We corrected the homework: All exercises from p. 22 (Revise and Check Units 1 and 2). Then we did 4 Grammar to practise comparatives and superlatives and 6 Listening about dangerous driving (pp. 26-27). Finally, we did an activity in pairs in which we had to ask different questions using comparatives and superlatives.

​

Homework: Grammar Bank 3A (ex. a and b, p. 136) and Reading task: filling the gaps from photocopy.
