5th March

​

We corrected the homework:Vocabulary: education (p. 161) and reading task (photocopy). Then we watched a video about British schools and did a listening task about it completing sentences with the appropriate vocabulary (you can watch the video again on the homepage. We talked about the writing: advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones (you can check the main problems we had in the writing section. We also did 2 pronunciation and speaking on p. 64, in pairs, we talked about our experiences in secondary school (ex. d, p. 64).

Homework: 6 Reading: do ex. a, b, c and d on pp. 66-67.

7th March

​

We corrected the homework: 6 Reading: do ex. a, b, c and d on pp. 66-67. Then we talked about the mother from the text and about our parents being strict or not. We did ex. e from p. 67. Later we did 5 Grammar on p. 66 and talked about exams and later a bit about the first conditional and future time clauses. We played a board game about education and schools in groups and finally we listened to the song "Another brick in the wall", by Pink Floyd, we completed the lyrics and talked about the meaning of the song (you can watch the video on the homepage).

Homework: Watch the video about the first conditional and future time clauses in the grammar presentation section and then do Grammar Bank 7A (ex. a and b, p. 144).  There is also a mediation task activity that you have to do by next Thursday 14th March.

12th March

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 7A (ex. a and b, p. 144), then we played a board game in pairs to practise future time clauses and first conditional sentences. We watched the first part of a video about a teaching experiment "Gareth Malone's extraordinary school for boys" and completed some sentences about it (you can watch it again on the homepage), we also did 3 Listening on p. 65 and talked  about this experiment and the learning process of boys and girls in schools. Finally, we did 4 Speaking on p. 65 and did ex. a (Grammar 1) on p. 68.

Homework: Do the mediation task (150-170 words) about learning through films and 1 Grammar: ex. c and d, pp. 68-69.

14th March

​

We corrected the homework: 1 Grammar: ex. c and d, pp. 68-69. We talked about the advantages and disadvantages of living at home. In pairs, we did a roleplay about travelling in which we had to practise first conditionals and future time clauses. Later, we did 2 Pronunciation and speaking: ex. c on  p. 69. Then, we wrote a chain story with second conditional sentences in which one wrote one sentence and the others had to continue the story starting from the second part of the previous sentence. We also did another task in pairs in which we had to finish conditional sentences. Finally, we revised the vocabulary about furniture (3 Vocabulary, p. 69).

19th March

​

We corrected the homework: Vocabulary Bank: Houses (p. 162) and Grammar Bank 7B (ex. a and b, p. 145). Then, in pairs we asked questions to practise the second conditional and then we talked about our housing preferences and where we would like to be by asking questions from a questionnaire. Later we talked about our dream house, we did a task from a listening activity (5 Listening and Speaking on p. 71) and we talked about our dream house in pairs.

Homework: exercises from photocopy on the second conditional and watch the video about St. Patrick's Day that you have on the homepage and answer the questions (you'll get the right answer when you click submit, then click continue and you'll go on watching the video).

21st March

​

We corrected the homework: exercises from photocopy on the second conditional. Then we talked about St. Patrick's Day, we answered some questions about it, in group 18:30-21:00 we prepared our own questions and asked the others in the class. Later we watched a video about a couple looking for a house in Ronda and answer some questions about it (you can watch it again on the homepage). Finally, in pairs, we wrote an ad to rent our house, you have to share it on the padlet you find on the homepage: Homerent.com Madrid, so that we can say which house we would like to rent. Finally, in group 16:00-18:30 we listened to the song If I were a boy, by Beyoncé, and completed the lyrics with the right verbs.

Homework: Vocabulary Bank: Work (p. 164) and 8 a Covering email with your CV: ex. b, p. 120.

26th March

​

We corrected the homework: Vocabulary Bank: Work (p. 164) and 8 a Covering email with your CV: ex. b, p. 120. We talked about formal emails and also about how to write a CV in English (we completed a short CV as an example). Then we talked about the last mediation task we did (you can check the main problems in the writing section). Then we did ex. c on p. 78 to practise vocabulary about work. Finally, we did 2 Making suggestions on pp. 72-73 and in pairs we made suggestions to have and end-of-term class party.

IMPORTANT: NEXT THURSDAY 28TH MARCH WE WILL DO A MEDIATION TASK IN CLASS AND A WRITING TASK (   CV AND COVERING LETTER FOR A JOB)

Homework: 3 Grammar: ex. b and d on p. 79, then watch the video about infinitives and gerunds in the grammar section. And 7 a letter of complaint: ex. a and b, p. 119, if you don't have time to do these two exercises about the letter of complaint, do them for next Tuesday.
