Mock exam: Reading and Listening Comprehension and Writing

7th February

​

 We corrected the homework: all exercises from p. 42 and Vocabulary Bank: Relationships on p. 158. Then  we did Practical English: Old friends, all parts from pp. 52-53. We talked about asking for permission and making requests and, in groups, we had to make different requests and accept or refuse. 

​

Homework: 1 Reading: read the text on p. 48 and do ex. c and d on p. 49. Writing bank: 9 A magazine article: advantages and disadvantages: ex a and b, p. 120.

12th February

​

We corrected the homework: 1 Reading: ex. c and d on p. 49. Writing bank: 9 A magazine article: advantages and disadvantages: ex a and b, p. 120.  Then we did 2 Grammar, we also did a multiple choice task about the audio (p. 49). Later we talked about close friends (4 Vocabulary, p. 50) and, finally, we did 5 pronunciation on p. 50).

Homework: Grammar Bank 5B (ex. a and b, p.141) and correct the mistakes from the exam writing (photocopy).

14th February

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 5B (ex. a and b, p.141) and the mistakes from the exam writing (photocopy).

We did an activity in pairs in which we had to talk about different activities we used to do in the past, sometimes we had to tell lies and our classmates had to guess if they were true or lies. We spent the rest of the class talking about the February exam. Finally, to practise "used to" y the language of relationships, we listened to the song "Somebody I used to know ", by Gotye (you can watch the video again on the homepage.

Homework: Writing: advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones following the example of p. 120.  Also do 1 Reading on pp. 54-55, read the text and ex. b and c.

19th February

​

We corrected the homework: 1 Reading on pp. 54-55, ex. b and c.  Then we talked about famous film and series locations and watched a video about the Real Downtown Abbey, answering some questions about it. You can watch it again on the homepage. Later we did 6 Listening and 7 Speaking in pairs on p. 51.

Homework: Watch the video on the passive in the grammar presentation section above, do Grammar Bank 6A (ex. a and b, p. 142) and Grammar Bank: cinema (p. 159).

21st February

​

We corrected the homework: Grammar Bank 6A (ex. a and b, p. 142) and Grammar Bank: cinema (p. 159). We asked the other students different questions in the passive and answered them. Later we talked about films and watched two trailers (ET and The Shape of Water), we did a listening task about them (you can watch them again on the homepage). Finally, we did 6 Speaking and Listening on pp. 56-57 about Steven Spielberg and the filming of The Schindler's list.

Homework: Writing: Film review: read it and do ex. a and b (p. 117) and exercises from photocopy on the passive.

26th February

​

We corrected the homework: Writing: Film review: ex. a and b (p. 117) and exercises from photocopy on the passive. Then, in pairs, we wrote a short film review about a film we had both seen, using passive sentences; you have to publish it on the padlet that you will find on the homepage. Later, we talked about films: 5 Speaking on p. 56. Finally, we listened to the song "City of Stars" from La La Land and completed the lyrics.

Homework: Revise and Check (p. 62): Grammar (from 1-11), Vocabulary: ex. b, c, d and e, and Pronunciation.

​

On Thursday, we'll go to see a play in Emilio Castelar from 6 to 7, so the group 18:30-21:00 will start the class at 19:30 and finish at 21:00. The small group practice is cancelled.

28th February

​

We corrected the homework: Revise and Check (p. 62): Grammar (from 1-11), Vocabulary: ex. b, c, d and e, and Pronunciation. Then we watched a video about New York film locations and answered some questions about it (you can watch it again on the homepage). We also did 1 Vocabulary: education on p.64. Finally, we played a kahoot about cinema to review the vocabulary and passive structures. We also went to the play by Moving on at IES Emilio Castelar.
